Delurking day...

There is a tradition in the blogging world of having a delurking day. I have never participated until this year. In fact I forgot all about it until I was over at Greeblemonkey where Aimee was participating. What does this mean for you?
All of you who read my blog but don't comment or comment all the time or just stumbled here unexpectedly, please leave a comment. Even if it just says "Hi".
Spread the comment love by commenting on other blogs that you read to let the authors know you are out there.
Thanks and Happy Monday all!!

So did you get what you were looking for?

I love Google Analytics, the last position I had with my company was very analytical. I totally love me some good stats. Yea, I'm a complete dork.
But what I love the most about Google analytics is that I get to see how people end up on my blog. Usually it's a lot of poor saps looking for something that has to do with Autumn the Season and not Autumn the person. But recently someone ended up here by searching for "Autumn is a pain in the ass" Yes I understand that I am sometimes, but why exactly do you need to google that? I'm sure that search ended up on my pain in the ass post, click it .. you know you want to read all about the time I got horned in the ass by a goat.
There are multiple searches for someone that I went to high school with. Someone I did not know very well and who's name I will not mention in this post. The only reason they end up here is the fact that my dear friend Corey left me a comment telling me how that person has a blog too. Thanks Corey, whoever ended up here spent a good five minutes perusing my pages. Hopefully they found your comment and so it all made sense to them then.
Actually I thought about deleting it but I need all the hits I can get... it boosts my self esteem.
Other than those I seem to have a lot of gardeners ending up here, I'm sorry to disappoint. This isn't HGTV and I'm not a botanist that can explain what an alstermaria looks like or what ate your pumpkin.

My Blogversarie

As of last Sunday this blog of mine is a year old.
Time flies when you're having fun.
I wasn't really sure what I wanted out of this blog when I first started.
All I knew was that it looked like fun!
I would read my incredibly talented friend Corey's blog and I would start thinking in blog post.
I would dream of incredibly insightful and meaningful things to say.
Then I would sit down at the computer and totally F it up!
I'm just not that great of a writer.
Then I would set out to take some awesome photos and make this a photography blog.
But I'm just a mediocre photographer who gets really lucky sometimes.
So instead I write about my life and my family and post some pictures to chronicle it all.
It seems to work for me, it is who I am, average.
This past year has brought me incredible joy watching Bug grow.
It also brought extreme sorrow as I watched my step-mom die.
There have been a lot of changes in my life since she left.
I have asked myself a lot of questions.
Am I living my life how I want to?
Why am I blogging?
Do I spend enough quality time with Bug?
Why the hell do people have to die?
I slowed down my blog posts and tried to focus on real life over the Summer.
I thought about just shutting down the blog.
But in the end I have decided to just give it what I can.
Thank you for sticking around with me.

The quirky side of meme

Huckdoll tagged me with the six quirks meme, and I have lot's of quirks so...

The Six Quirks

1) Post the rules on your blog.

2) Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.

3) Tag at least three people at the end of your post.

4) Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

5) Let the fun begin.

Here we go:

1. When my husband says something annoying I flutter my eye lids. It's involuntary and usually he will say "Oh stop fluttering your eyes at me!" LOL.

2. I can't stand the sight of blood, I wanted to be a veterinarian but when I was ten I fainted after watching our vet cut open an abscess on one of our horses.

3. I don't spend loose change, I bring it all home and put it into a just for fun jar. When it's full I use it for something fun.

4. I grind my teeth in my sleep. It's so bad that some mornings I wake up and my jaw hurts. I have always done this and poor Bug does it too!

5. I am slightly claustrophobic. Not in small spaces but when I feel smothered by people. Too many people around me or sometimes if someone hugs me a little too tight. A feeling of panic comes over me.

6. I like having my toes pulled, I know it's wacky but it's like I need a chiropractic adjustment in my toes. It only works if someone else does it, my poor husband.

So I'm really tired from a long weekend and I can't think of who to tag so if you want to do this ... yay go ahead! Just let me know you did it so I can see how quirky you are!

A little bit of this... a little bit of that...

First I need to acknowledge a couple awards that fellow bloggers have bequeathed on me. I'm so sorry that this took me so long in some cases, I'll try to be a bit more prompt in passing these on in the future.

Michele at The Rocky Mountain Retreat gave me this award almost three weeks ago.

If you haven't already, please go take a look at her blog and her amazing photographs. She has such a wonderful spirit and has become one of my dearest blogging friends.

I would love to pass this on to Julie over at the Daily Rhythm. She is a wonderful mom that is going to school and taking care of two little girls, all while expecting her third! She amazes me with her kind and loving spirit.

I also received this award from Jackie over at Mothers Pride. She is one strong woman, raising four girls primarily on her own. Please stop by her blog and read her wonderful writing.

Oh I love this award, I have "met" so many wonderful women since starting this blog. I have to pass it on to a whole lot of you! Please stop by these ladies blogs:

Michele at The Rocky Mountain Retreat

Corey at Living and Loving every minute of it!

Mama Zen at The Zen of Motherhood

Huckdoll at Hey I'm going crazy. Are you Coming?

Holly at Oh how my winter nights fly.

Nap Warden at Chronicles of a stay at home mom.

All of these ladies are just awesome and I'm so glad I get to pass this on to them.

This brings me to the other thing I have been thinking about, all of this blogging.

When you live in a rural community and work out of your house like I do. You feel a bit shut off from the world. Through blogging I get the chance to meet amazing people from around the world. I read mom blogs, religious blog, political blogs, nature blogs, photography blogs, humor blogs and author-blogs.

I read about peoples fears, loves, and illnesses. I get to see the world through other peoples perspectives and I get inspired by their creativeness.

This blogging experience is giving me so much more than I ever expected. Thank you to everyone who is reading my blog, and a huge thank you to those who comment.

My fifty year old uncle and his wife just had their first baby this week! I really can't imagine having a baby when I'm fifty but I know that he has waited a very long time for this little family and will be a wonderful daddy. This baby is the youngest grandchild and my brother at 38 is the oldest!

One more thing, we are taking a long weekend and going to the coast Friday. Bug is so excited and has been counting down the sleeps until we go. If the weather holds we will have lots of bicycle riding, sand castle making and picture taking to do. I hope everyone has a good weekend!

This just made my day!

When I turned on my work computer this morning, I quickly checked my work email before taking Bug to daycare.

Stupid mistake.

Someone I work with, some peach of a gal, sent me an email chastising me.

The thing is, I asked her what needed to be done for a specific project last week. I did everything she asked me to do. Then I asked other people to make sure it was correct. Everyone said it was fine. Then today, the day of a client presentation, she sends me an email saying it needs redone. That I did it all wrong, even though no one told me. And... she copied in my senior colleagues.

She's a peach.. a gem... a pain in my ass.

I am sensitive, too sensitive, overly sensitive. I spent the whole way too and from the daycare trying not to cry. I thought of just screaming, but I was so frustrated I couldn't even do that.

When I got back home, I decided to ignore it for a few minutes, I checked my favorite blogs instead.

And guess what... the super cool and fantastic Mama Zen left me this on her blog....

Apparently she likes to read my blog too.

Holy crap, I about peed my pants I was so happy. Now I could just throw this back at her, because I can't go a day without looking at her blog once, or twenty times.

If you want to laugh so hard you pee yourself due to her witty humor or sob because of a sweet story about her love for her daughter... go check her out here.

Now, I get to bestow this on someone else. Here is a blog I just started reading and I can't get enough of Aimee over at Greeblemonkey. She is great to read and takes the most amazing pictures.

Thank you Mama Zen for turning my day around... you rock.
